"Am I more than just the sum of every high and every low?" - Lauren Daigle, You Say.

This particular line in this song has made me question so many things in my life. It's from a religious song sure, but you don't need to be religious at all to relate to it or the rest of it. For me, it has made me question things like if I am overthinking certain situations or if the path I am on is my true purpose. But I also realized from this line that I am so much more than my mistakes and my choices and even the questions I ask myself.

There are times in my life where I do feel like I'm not enough or unworthy of things. These feelings eventually pass and I work through them. To me it's normal to feel like this every once in a while. The key is to not let the feelings consume you. However, I don't let myself forget how they affect me. The reason being is because these emotions are important.

It's better to feel something than feel nothing at all. And these emotions are important partially because they fuel my writing...but that's beside the point. And when I think about the phrase "measure up," I think how can one person truly measure another? How can someone decide whether or not someone else is worthy of something? It's ridiculous.

So I guess the point I'm trying to make is that just live the life you wanna live; the one that makes you happy. Because that's what it's about. That and finding yourself over and over and over again. Self discovery is the most powerful thing but it takes a lot of work. And there's always room for more work. It takes a lot of introspection but the result is worth the effort. Learning your own self worth and value helps you realize what you bring to the table and that there's no fear in eating alone. Worry about creating your most authentic self.

You know Ellen DeGeneres tanked her own career, so she thought, when she came out as homosexual. Walt Disney was fired from a job for not having any creativity and no good ideas. Lady Gaga's classmates created a Facebook page mocking her saying she would never be famous. J.K. Rowling felt as though she should hide the fact that she was a female in order to sell her books. So if you ever find yourself wondering if you measure up to anything, you're in good company.
