Through the Lense

There is something about going to a new place or experiencing new things that just make it that much more beautiful. Whether you go somewhere across the World or just across the street, when you experience something new it just takes your breath away. There is no question that Lima has captured my heart, but truly it is something someone should see at least once in their lifetime.

Coming from a place where the sun rises out of the ocean, that is sight not many get to see and it is magnificent. But now, being in a place where the sun is swallowed by the ocean, there is just nothing quite like that. Lima is a place where your brain feels deceived because what you are seeing feels as though it isn't real. Pictures and videos can't even come close to doing it justice. As I stare through the lense of my camera and with each picture I snap, I think to myself, "Nothing is going to capture this city the way it deserves."

A common question amongst the locals for me is, "Why Peru?" My answer in the beginning was something along the lines of, "I love Spanish culture" or "I wanted to experience something different other than just Europe." But now, my answer is "Have you seen this city?" Sometimes they laugh and sometimes they look at me weird and think I am actually being serious when I ask them as if I don't know they live here. That's another thing, the people. The people of this City are some of the most inviting and excited people I have ever met.

The Lima locals just want anyone that comes to their home, to have the greatest experience of their lives and they are constantly trying to show tourists and foreigners a great time! They introduce you to new foods, new music, new dances, and other new people. There are so many places to see and things to learn in Peru and the locals want you to experience it all.

All in all, I will try my best to showcase this unbelievable place through my lense. I hope it will open your eyes and your mind to South America. This place is special; it should be celebrated.
