When The Dust Settles.

And when it’s all burned.
Burned to the ground with almost nothing left.
Almost nothing. What’s left? People.
Our people. Our families, kids, the ones we love.
Either we lie in the soot of our history, repeating our mistakes.
Or we rise from the ashes and build a new.
Don’t let it be just another page in the textbook.
Bring justice to their names. Justice for their lives.
Forget the politics and opinions. Don’t we want to take
care of our people? Of each other? All lives will matter when
Black Lives Matter.
And when it’s all burned, with almost nothing left;
I ask to hold your hands. To stand beside each other
and take care of each other. Take care of our homes.
Because when the dust settles, we still stand.
